Manifesting Abundance

Allowing Abundance to Find Me

AbundanceI started looking as SUV’s a few months ago as I’m becoming concerned, given all the wildfires the last few years, about being able to evacuate my cats if it becomes necessary. I realized, no matter how good my Tetris skills might be, I’d never get them all into my little Lexus IS 250. After looking at the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV 4, I decided if I was going to pay for the premium options, I might as well stick with a luxury car.

I started researching compact SUV’s in the luxury class including Volvo, Audi, and Infiniti. I decided against the Subaru as their comparable compact model had “low power” as one of the cons. After emails, phone calls, and online research, I decided to stick with what I knew; the Lexus, and in this case, their NX 250. I test drove one, but was only allowed to drive it on city streets without giving them a commitment to buy.

Fast forward another month or so. I kept checking inventory at local dealers for either a red or copper one (both are in shorter supply than the more subtle colors like white, tan, black, grey, silver and blue). In truth, I was ready to wait until October or November to not only find the vehicle I wanted, but also a dealer willing to…well…deal. Imagine my surprise when I found both this week!

Right Timing

Max Approves

I don’t know why, or how this particular dealer was willing to give me a price which started with their invoice price rather than the MSRP and ended up including free battery replacement for life. To date, I’ve not met another dealer willing to do that, especially with a model they claim they can’t even keep in stock. But trust me, I’m sending bucketloads of gratitude to them and to the Universe for the timing, the deal, and the excellent buying experience I’ve never gotten except from Lexus.

Granted, it’s going to take me awhile to master all of the technological wonders of my new SUV, and to get used to driving something which feels enormous after driving my little sports car for the last 14 years. I already love being able to see the road around me more clearly from my higher vantage point, the seamless connection to my phone and all my apps, and 2 screens which keep me apprised of pretty much everything around me.

Sensors let me know if something or someone is too close (though we’re at odds when it comes to how far I can back into my garage!), and an app lets me know if I left the doors unlocked and allows me to lock them from wherever I am. Still, I’m getting used to adjusting everything for my comfort and best visibility, and wading through all the buttons, knobs, and screens to locate what I need.

Earning My Engineering Degree One Function at a Time

Engineering MarvelPairing the HomeLink to my garage door was a bit of an adventure because I have an opener with a rolling code. It took several tries, but at least the one I got recently has the controls on the bottom of the unit instead of on what was the wrong side for me before this. That small challenge is more than offset by the number of bins and compartments this thing has so I don’t have stuff rolling around, or piled up on the floorboards any more.

In short, I’ve been blessed with a very early Christmas/Chanukah present to me after my new blinds were installed, but before my sofa and loveseat arrive. I’m getting quite good at sharing the abundance with myself while retaining a modicum of sanity at the same time. I’m learning living within my means is somewhat flexible these days, and I don’t always need to operate at the low, saving lots of what I earn end of things. Occasionally, I can go out and replace things which need replacing, or improve on what I have without having to settle for the bare minimum.

Patience and Persistence

Above all, I’m proud of myself for continuing to keep my eyes open for the deals (I got both the blinds and the furniture for 30% off!), and for being willing to wait until I get exactly what I want without paying more than I feel comfortable with. It is possible to use my former lack mentality to simply be frugal about how I’m spreading my abundance around.

At this point, other than getting the house painted, I’m done with my little spending spree for awhile, but each of my purchases is making me incredibly happy! The blinds alone have given me the privacy I’ve been lacking, and a cleaner, fresher look to my home sweet hovel. At the rate abundance is finding me these days, that kitchen remodel may not be as far off as I’d thought. For now, I’m keeping positive thoughts, and beautiful pictures of the completed remodel in my mind.

Grateful for Abundance in all Areas of My Life

My gratitudes today are:

  1. I’m grateful for everything which has conspired to both give me the means, and allow myself permission to add a few nice things to my life.
  2. I’m grateful for all the abundance in my life, and the path which is opening to bring in still more.
  3. I’m grateful for being able to stay positive most of the time, and to shift things around so I’m no longer stuck.
  4. I’m grateful for my readers who encourage me to share my life, my thoughts, and my challenges in this small space.
  5. I’m grateful for my cats who love me unconditionally, and miss me when I’m gone.
