Rip off the mask, tear down the walls. Show the world your beautiful self!

Just another “sit down at the computer with nothing to say” kind of night

For the last few hours I’ve been wracking my brain for something blog worthy. I’ve sat at the computer staring at the screen, gone and done something else, thought about sitting down at the computer…yet here I am, still topic-less. Yet, I feel obliged to write something, anything, just to be able to say I fulfilled my self-imposed commitment.

What makes things worse is how little I accomplished today. After sleeping incredibly late, I decided to make it a reading day, but I only got a few pages of my new Mercedes Lackey book read, plus a few chapters on Wattpad by one of the writers in my critique group. I almost forgot it was Monday and that the trash needed to go out, but remember in the nick of time.

It’s been a weird couple of days

My daughter made a last minute decision to drive up on Saturday night so shortly after I got home from dancing, she and her dog, Gwen arrived. She baked some things for the Super Bowl Party and left my kitchen cleaner than it had been when she started, then headed home while I was helping clean up after the game was over. I was fidgety and ended up staying awake far longer than I should have. Then I was awakened early by Scrappy getting himself stuck in a Starbuck’s bag’s handles and racing around the house trying to escape the bag and the noise. When I got up to find a way to halt the noise, I expected to see at least one set of mini blinds spread all over the floor in one of the other bedrooms, but it was just a bagged cat. Meanwhile, Toby was very demanding, wanting me to lie on my back so he could sprawl across my chest and shove his cheek into my hand. Failure to oblige him meant he kept catching his claws in my pajamas and pulling on them until he got my attention again.

I finally gave up on getting any more sleep in my room, picked up Dylan and went into the guest room and closed the door. After a few failed attempts to get the door open, everyone else left me alone until about 11 o’clock. Needless to say, getting motivated after sleeping away half the day just wasn’t going to happen. I got as far as washing the comforter Munchkin had horked on, cleaning up the kitchen, taking out the trash and refilling the food and water dispensers. I suppose it could have been worse.

So, the post got writ, though I won’t win any awards for entertainment value this time. But I’ve kept my promise to myself.

My gratitudes tonight are:
1. I am grateful that I have a lot on my agenda tomorrow so I won’t sleep in.
2. I am grateful for the tasks I did accomplish today.
3. I am grateful for days when I can just be unmotivated, and even more grateful that they occur less frequently these days.
4. I am grateful for a clean, dry comforter and hope the cats will allow me to keep it that way for at least a few days.
5. I am grateful for abundance: love, light, happiness, joy, quiet, friendship, inspiration, resources, peace, harmony, health and prosperity.

Blessed be.
